Congress candidate V. Naveen Yadav, who won the Jubilee Hills by-election with a resounding majority, was sworn in as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) on Wednesday morning. The oath ceremony was held at the Assembly premises and administered in Telugu by Speaker G. Prasad Kumar.

The event saw the presence of several ministers, including Sridhar Babu and Azharuddin, along with Congress MLAs, party leaders, and family members.

Naveen Yadav secured 98,988 votes, defeating his closest rival, Maganti Sunitha of the BRS, who received 74,259 votes. This marked a margin of 24,729 votes, a significant victory for the Congress in the Greater Hyderabad region. The seat had fallen vacant following the death of the former MLA, Gopinath.

Speaking to the media after taking the oath, Naveen Yadav promised to honor the trust placed in him by the residents of Jubilee Hills. He pledged to address local issues such as roads, drainage, drinking water, parks, and streetlights, and committed to working closely with constituents in each ward to guide development plans. He also described the opportunity to take oath on the day the Constitution was adopted as a moment of great honor.

Following the ceremony, the Speaker and attending ministers extended their congratulations, and Naveen Yadav later visited Gandhi Bhavan.

With this win, the Congress strengthened its position in the Telangana Assembly, increasing its tally to 66 seats out of 119. The BRS holds 37 seats, while BJP has 8, MIM 7, and CPI 1.

During the nomination process, a case was filed against Naveen Yadav over allegations of distributing fake voter cards. Despite this, the party continued to support him, culminating in a decisive victory. Congress workers celebrated the win in Jubilee Hills with chants of “Jai Congress” and “Jai Revanth,” marking the start of a new chapter for the constituency.
