Narayanpet Schools Get 190 Laptops Under CSR Digital Literacy Initiative

Narayanpet District Collector Priyanka has urged schools to make full and effective use of the digital educational resources being provided to them, stressing that technology should become an active part of students’ learning rather than remain unused infrastructure.

She also called on schools to take advantage of the support being extended to the education sector by the government, voluntary organisations and corporate institutions, saying such partnerships could help strengthen learning opportunities for students across the district.

Priyanka made the remarks while participating in a CSR-funded digital literacy initiative organised by Seva Bharathi at the Zilla Parishad High School in Jajapur village of Narayanpet mandal on Tuesday. During the programme, she distributed 190 laptops and digital learning materials to 29 high schools in the district.

The Collector said Narayanpet had significant educational needs as well as considerable scope for improvement, particularly given the number of schools and students dependent on the existing system. Since students rely heavily on teachers and headmasters for academic guidance, ensuring access to quality learning resources should be treated as a shared responsibility, she said.

She appreciated the contribution made by Seva Bharathi and other organisations through CSR initiatives to improve educational facilities. Priyanka said the resumption of the laptop distribution programme was particularly encouraging after it had remained stalled for some time due to coordination-related issues. The programme could now move forward following improved coordination with the organisation’s representatives, she said.

The Collector stressed that the laptops, computers and other digital equipment supplied to schools should not simply be stored or maintained as assets. Teachers should actively incorporate the resources into students’ learning, she said, urging schools to ensure their regular and meaningful use.

With digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) expected to assume a larger role in the future of education, students must develop digital skills from an early stage, Priyanka said. Familiarity with technology at the school level would help students adapt to emerging educational and professional environments.

She further appealed to corporate organisations and voluntary groups to undertake more CSR programmes in Narayanpet and contribute to the development of the education sector.

Priyanka also noted that teachers were working to improve student performance in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) as well as Class 10 examinations, with efforts aimed at achieving strong results at the State level.
