Narayanpet Collector Reviews KGBV Facilities, Directs Early Completion of Works
Narayanpet District Collector Priyanka conducted a surprise inspection of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) school and college at Damargidda mandal headquarters on Tuesday, reviewing the ongoing infrastructure works and facilities available to students. She directed officials to complete the additional building on the campus at the earliest and make it available for academic activities.
During the inspection, the Collector visited the new building under construction and assessed the progress of the additional rooms. As the construction has reached its final stage, she spoke to District Education Officer Govindaraju over the phone and instructed him to ensure that the remaining works were completed without delay. The Collector said the additional space should be put to use as soon as possible to ease the pressure on the existing facilities.
KGBV Special Officer Swathi explained that the present building was facing difficulties in accommodating both school and college classes. Taking note of the issue, Priyanka suggested using the additional rooms on the ground floor of the new building for conducting classes once the construction is completed. She also enquired about unused furniture lying on the campus and sought details from the officials concerned.
The Collector later visited the Intermediate second-year and vocational classrooms and interacted with the students. She asked them about their studies, interests and future ambitions. Some students expressed their desire to pursue law and B.Sc. Nursing after completing their education. Encouraging them to remain focused on their goals, Priyanka advised the students to study diligently, pursue higher education and work towards securing government employment in the future.
The Collector also stressed the importance of maintaining good health and consuming nutritious food. She inspected the midday meal arrangements and checked the quality of the food, vegetables and other essential supplies being provided to the students. She also examined the stock maintained in the store room.
During the inspection, Priyanka found that the RO water plant was not functioning and directed officials to arrange immediate repairs. If the existing unit could not be restored, she instructed them to submit proposals for installing a new RO plant. She also directed officials to increase the height of the dining shed and take appropriate measures to prevent birds from entering the facility, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for the students.
