Narayanpet Collector Pushes For Higher Labour Participation In MGNREGS
Narayanpet District Collector CH Priyanka carried out a surprise inspection of ongoing MGNREGS employment guarantee works near Utkur mandal headquarters on Saturday morning and interacted directly with workers at the site.
During her visit to the feeder channel works near Utkur, the Collector reviewed the working conditions and spoke to labourers about their daily wages and work schedules. In view of the intense summer heat, she advised workers to begin duties as early as 5:30 am so that they could complete their work before temperatures rise sharply and return home safely.
Emphasising worker welfare, Priyanka instructed officials to ensure the availability of basic facilities such as drinking water at all work sites. She also directed the authorities to distribute ORS packets to workers and encourage them to stay hydrated throughout the day.
The Collector expressed dissatisfaction over the low attendance of labourers in villages including Vallampally , Bijwar , and Nagireddypally . Stating that Utkur is a large gram panchayat, she said at least 150 workers should be engaged in employment guarantee works in the area.
She instructed the DRDO and rural development officials to take immediate steps to increase worker participation in the villages from Monday onwards. Priyanka also directed District Rural Development Agency official Venkat Ramulu to submit a daily report on the progress of employment guarantee works and labour attendance across the mandal.
