Nara Lokesh Attends ‘Bharateeyam’ Event Marked by 108-Mantra Tribute, Vande Mataram
A special programme titled ‘Bharateeyam’ was organised to familiarise students with Indian culture, traditions, patriotism, spirit of service and the sacrifices of the armed forces.
The programme was organised at the Akundi Lakshmi Memorial Gosala in Thimmapuram, Kakinada district, under the guidance of government adviser and spiritual scholar Chaganti Koteswara Rao. Education Minister Nara Lokesh attended the programme as the chief guest and participated in various activities organised to promote awareness of India's cultural heritage and national values among students.
The event began with Vedic scholars offering Vedic blessings to the Education Minister. Organisers also presented Lokesh with copies of Devuni Swaram, a book authored by Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati Mahaswamiji, the 68th Shankaracharya of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. The minister later interacted with members of the satsang and discussed the significance of preserving Indian traditions and values among younger generations.
One of the key highlights of the programme was a floral tribute to Bharat Mata with 108 mantras. The ceremony combined traditional spiritual elements with patriotic expressions. A special rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’ was presented by blending sounds and musical notes associated with Indian cultural traditions, followed by a ceremonial aarti.
The programme also provided students an opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of military service. Former serviceman Dr Kiran Kumar shared his experiences from his time in the Indian Army and spoke to students about the responsibilities involved in serving and protecting the nation.
Recognising his contribution to the country's defence, Lokesh felicitated Kiran Kumar during the event. The minister also presented mementos to students who participated in the programme.
The organisers said initiatives such as Bharateeyam can help young people develop a deeper understanding of India's cultural and spiritual heritage while strengthening their sense of patriotism, national consciousness and social responsibility.
The programme underlined the importance of involving students and youth in activities that connect them with India's traditions and inspire them to contribute positively to society and the nation.
