
Namrata Soni Reflects on Styling Icons from Aishwarya Rai to Sonam Kapoor
Renowned celebrity makeup artist Namrata Soni has reflected on her journey in the beauty and fashion industry, highlighting her work with Bollywood stars and her experiences in bridal styling.
Speaking to ANI, Soni recalled her early collaborations with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, describing the former Miss World as “so beautiful” and open to experimenting with her appearance. A memorable look created during this period included glittery blue eyeshadow for a fashion ramp show in Delhi.
Soni also shared her experiences working with Sushmita Sen, expressing admiration for the actor’s dynamic personality. A major career milestone was achieved when she worked with Sen on a cover shoot for Cosmopolitan magazine.
The artist reflected on styling Sonam Kapoor for her wedding, calling it an “amazing” experience. Kapoor, known for her fashion-forward choices, reportedly allowed full creative freedom once trust was established. Each function required distinct and personalized looks aligned with the actor’s style sensibility.
Over a career spanning more than two decades, Soni has contributed significantly to the evolution of makeup trends in Bollywood. She has been recognized with awards for her work, including an IIFA award for ageing makeup in Shah Rukh Khan’s film Om Shanti Om and the Dadasaheb Phalke Excellence Award in the makeup category.
Soni emphasized that every celebrity she has worked with offered unique lessons, stating that an artist must remain open-minded and adaptable. Her career, which began in the early 2000s, has made her one of the most respected names in Indian makeup artistry.
