Nampally Furniture Shop Caught in Massive Fire

A massive fire broke out on Saturday afternoon at a four-story furniture store in Nampally, Hyderabad , with flames erupting on the ground floor . Firefighters , working with four fire engines , were engaged in a strenuous battle to control the blaze . The exact extent of the property damage is yet to be assessed.

Teams from the Fire Services , Police Department , Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) , and other emergency units rushed to the scene to assist with rescue operations . According to Mirza Rahmat Beg , MLC of Majlis , six people —including an auto driver , the building’s watchman , his wife , and two children —might be trapped inside the building.

Thick smoke engulfing the building made rescue operations extremely challenging . Observing the severity of the situation, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar visited the site and supervised the emergency response . While the fire has been brought under control , dense smoke continues to hinder entry into the premises.

Officials said there is concern that some victims may be trapped in the second cellar , and efforts are ongoing to reach them. Sajjanar added that the intensity of the smoke forced some fire personnel to retreat temporarily . With multiple furniture shops in the Nampally area , authorities are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety of both the trapped individuals and the rescue teams .

Expressing deep concern over the incident , State Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy directed officials to take all necessary measures to safely evacuate those trapped inside. Special Chief Secretary for Disaster Management Aravind Kumar visited the site and was instructed to submit a detailed report on the situation , according to an official statement .

Meanwhile, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi also responded to the fire , stating that he is in constant contact with authorities overseeing the rescue operations . He has reportedly instructed his party MLC, Rahmat Beg , to assist with the ongoing rescue efforts .
