The USA delivered a masterclass in chess as India suffered a crushing 0-5 defeat in the opening Checkmate event, held as a live arena spectacle in Arlington, USA. The highlight of the evening was Hikaru Nakamura’s stunning victory over world champion D Gukesh, setting the tone for a dominant American performance.

Despite several tense moments and chances for both sides, the Indian team struggled to convert opportunities. Playing with the black pieces, the Indians were unable to find footing, while the Americans secured multiple clutch wins under pressure.
