Nagpur Horror: 14-year-old strangled for ransom, 3 arrested
In a shocking incident, three youths have been arrested for allegedly abducting and killing 14-year-old Atharva More in Nagpur’s Gittikhadan area, police said on Monday.
The accused have been identified as Ayush Shahu (19), Ketan Shahu (22), and Jai Yadav (19) . According to authorities, the trio hatched a plan to kidnap Atharva for ransom, assuming that his father was wealthy.
“The accused lured the boy to Friends Colony Chowk , took him in a Tata Ace vehicle to the Gorewada area, and strangled him,” a police official said. Following the murder, the suspects abandoned the vehicle. Two of them allegedly disposed of Atharva’s body by throwing it off a bridge on April 3 .
All three accused have been arrested, and police are working to confiscate the vehicle, which they claim was washed to destroy evidence. Investigations into the case are ongoing, with authorities focusing on uncovering the full circumstances of the crime.
The case has sent shockwaves across the city, highlighting concerns over youth crime and safety in Nagpur’s neighborhoods.
