Naagzilla slithers into Valentine’s weekend release next year
In a strategic shift aimed at maximizing audience appeal, Naagzilla , the upcoming creature comedy backed by Dharma Productions, is now set to hit theatres on February 12, 2027. The film was initially slated for an Independence Day 2026 release but has been postponed to accommodate extensive visual effects and post-production work.
Headlined by Kartik Aaryan, who takes on the unusual role of a shape-shifting serpent hero, the film promises a quirky blend of folklore, fantasy, and humour. Directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, Naagzilla is being described as a fusion of madcap comedy and supernatural storytelling. Lamba likened the film’s tone to cult entertainers like Fukrey and Hera Pheri , reimagined in an “icchadhaari” universe.
Actress Preity Mukhundhan stars opposite Aaryan, adding a romantic angle that aligns well with its newly chosen Valentine’s weekend slot. Industry analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the release update while unveiling the film’s striking first-look poster, which has already sparked curiosity among fans.
The move is also seen as a calculated step to capitalize on the romantic holiday window, offering a mix of love, laughter, and fantasy spectacle. For Aaryan, whose recent box office journey has seen both highs and setbacks, Naagzilla could mark a significant turning point.
With its unconventional premise and festive release timing, the film is shaping up to be one of the more intriguing Bollywood offerings on the 2027 calendar.
