Mythri Movie Makers Eyes 300-Acre Film Studio Near Hyderabad, IMAX Theatre Plan Also Reported
Mythri Movie Makers, the prominent Tollywood production house promoted by Naveen Yerneni and Yalamanchili Ravi Shankar (Y. Ravi Shankar), is reportedly exploring a major expansion into film studio infrastructure, with plans for a proposed film city near Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The company is reportedly seeking the Telangana government’s approval for the project, although no official announcement has been made.
According to Telugu media reports, the production house is exploring a 300-acre land parcel near the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. However, reports differ on the proposed development’s scale, with one account suggesting a film city spanning around 100 acres. The land requirement and final project details remain unclear.
The reported land valuation is around ₹300 crore, based on an estimated rate of ₹1 crore per acre. However, the valuation, land allotment and investment terms have not been officially confirmed. The total cost of developing the proposed facility also remains unknown.
Separately, reports suggest that Mythri Movie Makers is considering a large cinema theatre featuring an IMAX screen near the ORR. Details regarding its location, investment, government approvals and construction timeline have not been disclosed. If both proposals materialise, they could expand the company’s presence beyond film production into studio infrastructure and theatrical exhibition.
Founded by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, Mythri Movie Makers has established itself as a major production banner in Telugu cinema and expanded into film distribution and exhibition. A dedicated studio could provide shooting floors, set-construction spaces and other production facilities for its projects and potentially accommodate other filmmakers, though no facilities have been officially confirmed.
Hyderabad already has an established filmmaking ecosystem, including Ramoji Film City, Annapurna Studios and Ramanaidu Studios. Demand for production infrastructure has grown alongside large-scale theatrical films and streaming content, making new facilities around the city an area of industry interest.
Meanwhile, Mythri Movie Makers is preparing for the theatrical release of Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the period action drama is scheduled to release on October 16, 2026.
For now, the proposed film city and IMAX theatre remain unconfirmed. Further clarity is awaited from the production house and the Telangana government on the land proposal, investment and approvals.
