A man accused of triggering panic by sending over 1,100 hoax bomb threat emails across India to government offices, courts and schools has been arrested by Delhi Police from Mysuru, officials said on Sunday.

The accused, identified as Srinivas , was traced to a house in Brindavan Layout, Second Phase in Mysuru , where he had allegedly been operating while sending emails warning of explosions. Police said the threatening messages were sent to institutions in several parts of the country, prompting security alerts and emergency checks.

Authorities launched an investigation after repeated bomb threat emails were reported over the past month , forcing many establishments to conduct precautionary evacuations and searches. Bomb detection and disposal squads and police teams were deployed at several locations, but no explosives were found and the threats were later declared hoaxes.

Based on technical surveillance and cyber-tracking , investigators traced the origin of the emails to Mysuru. A team of Delhi Police travelled to the city and carried out a surprise raid with the assistance of personnel from the VV Puram police station , leading to the arrest of the accused.

During the operation, police recovered several SIM cards, electronic devices and a laptop suspected to have been used to send the threatening messages. Investigators believe the seized devices will provide crucial digital evidence for the case.

Officials said the accused had allegedly been hiding in the city while continuing to send the emails , which caused panic and disrupted the functioning of several institutions that received the threats.

Police said the accused will be taken to Delhi for further questioning , where cyber experts will examine the devices and online accounts to determine the motive behind sending the emails and whether anyone else was involved . Authorities have confirmed that all the bomb threats were fake but they triggered major security responses at multiple locations across the country.
