Mumbai to host landmark physical disability T20 series at Wankhede Stadium from today

The city of Mumbai is set to celebrate inclusive cricket as the Physical Disability T20 Series kicks off from December 16 to 18 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium , according to the Differently Abled Cricket Council of India (DCCI).

All three matches of the three-day series will be held at the same venue, offering fans a rare opportunity to witness high-quality cricket while cheering for athletes demonstrating extraordinary resilience and skill. The series aims to promote inclusivity, sporting excellence, and the growing prominence of physical disability cricket both nationally and internationally.

, General Secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) , said, “Hosting the Physical Disability Cricket Series for the very first time is a proud milestone for MCA, celebrating resilience, redefining ability, and reaffirming that cricket truly belongs to everyone. Our President, Ajinkya Naik, is deeply committed to promoting and celebrating physical disability cricket, and we will continue to extend our full support.”

Expressing his excitement, Ravi Chauhan , General Secretary of DCCI, said, “Playing at the historic Wankhede Stadium, where India lifted the 2011 World Cup , is a tremendous boost for our players. We are sincerely grateful to Ajinkya Naik and MCA for their unwavering support, which has strengthened the spirit of the game and empowered our athletes to shine.”

Chauhan added that with continued support from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) , efforts are underway to develop and strengthen physical disability cricket across the country , giving more athletes the platform to excel.

The Physical Disability T20 Series marks a significant step in making cricket more inclusive , highlighting the determination and talent of differently-abled athletes on one of India’s most prestigious sporting stages.
