
Mulugu District is Selected Under Nirbhaya Fund for Women’s Safety Project
Mulugu district in Telangana has received a rare national recognition after being selected for the ‘Safe Cities’ project under the Centre’s Nirbhaya Fund . The initiative is aimed at creating a safe and supportive urban environment for women and girls .
Under the project, authorities will develop gender-sensitive infrastructure designed to enhance women’s safety. Plans include installing state-of-the-art surveillance cameras , setting up continuous monitoring systems, and strengthening emergency response mechanisms to ensure quick assistance for women in distress.
The programme also focuses on implementing measures that allow women and girls to travel freely and confidently in public spaces. Through these initiatives, Mulugu district is expected to become a model region in promoting safety and preventing crimes against women .
Meanwhile, State Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka met Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi in New Delhi and conveyed her gratitude for selecting Mulugu district for the project. She thanked the Union government and said the selection highlights the commitment to improving the safety and security of women and children in the region.
