MS Dhoni becomes certified drone pilot, adds new milestone
India's former cricket captain MS Dhoni has officially become a certified drone pilot, completing the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Drone Pilot Certification program. Known for his affinity for machinery and bikes, Dhoni announced the achievement on Tuesday via a Facebook post.
"Happy to announce that I have completed my DGCA Drone pilot certification program with Garuda Aerospace," Dhoni wrote, marking another milestone in his diverse career.
Dhoni received his certification through Garuda Aerospace, a DGCA-approved Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO), which has trained over 2,500 aspiring drone pilots to date. Agnishwar Jayaprakash, Founder and CEO of Garuda Aerospace, expressed satisfaction at Dhoni completing the program.
"Having our brand ambassador and investor, MS Dhoni, personally undergo the training and get certified as a pilot is a monumental milestone for us. He picked it up very quickly and was extremely focused on learning," Jayaprakash said. He added that Dhoni’s commitment is an inspiration and reinforces the company’s mission to advance skill and innovation in the drone industry.
Apart from this new achievement, Dhoni has had a distinguished career both on and off the cricket field. He was conferred with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army in 2011.
With the completion of his drone pilot training, Dhoni adds a new dimension to his achievements, highlighting his continued interest in technology and aviation. This certification also strengthens his association with Garuda Aerospace, where he serves as a brand ambassador and investor.
