MP warns over unpaid SC hostel bills

Rajya Sabha member R. Krishnaiah has urged the state government to immediately release pending mess and vegetable bills for SC hostels across Telangana. Speaking to the media during a meeting organized by the BC Welfare Association at Basheerbagh, led by state working president Neela Venkatesh, Krishnaiah highlighted the hardships faced by students due to the delay in payments.

According to Krishnaiah, the government has not released funds for essential items for the past 16 months, leaving students struggling to get adequate meals. He said nearly Rs 100 crore in pending bills for hostels providing services to SC students across the state need to be cleared without delay.

He added that due to unpaid mess bills, hostels are facing food shortages. Wardens are unable to purchase vegetables and other essentials, preventing students from receiving nutritious meals. Contractors have stopped supplying food because of the lack of funds, directly affecting students’ health and studies.

Krishnaiah warned that if the mess bills are not cleared immediately, he and other leaders might take direct action by approaching ministers’ residences. The meeting was attended by BC Welfare Association national convener Gujj Krishna and other community leaders.
