Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury has raised serious concerns over the persistent delays in multiple railway projects in Telangana , stating that despite approvals , surveys , and detailed project reports , many remain stalled. Speaking during Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, she emphasized that Telangana, as a new state , requires priority in infrastructure development, warning that delays are not only slowing connectivity but also causing cost escalation and impacting overall growth.

She linked these delays to the broader issue of unfulfilled promises under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, highlighting that several commitments made during bifurcation remain incomplete even after a decade. A key example is the long-pending Kazipet railway manufacturing unit , which was expected to boost employment and industrial activity but is yet to be operational. She questioned the credibility of constitutional assurances , arguing that failure to implement them reflects policy paralysis and weakens trust between states and the Centre.

Highlighting the strategic importance of Kazipet as a major railway junction, she noted that delays in such projects undermine Telangana’s potential as a logistics hub . She pointed out that stalled infrastructure leads to economic impact , including reduced market access and missed opportunities for regional development.
