Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender has urged the Telangana government to prepare a comprehensive plan to clear the Jawaharnagar dumping yard using modern technology, estimating that the project could cost between ₹2,000 crore and ₹3,000 crore. Addressing a public meeting at Edulabad in Ghatkesar mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district, alongside BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao, during the Jawaharnagar Jana Sankalpa Yatra, he called for a permanent solution to the long-standing problem.

Rajender said residents had been fighting against the dumping yard for 12 years, organising themselves under a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to demand relief from its impact. He pointed out that the Supreme Court had imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh on the facility for violations of prescribed regulations. He also recalled that Revanth Reddy, who had earlier served as the area's MP, had approached the National Green Tribunal and the Supreme Court over the issue.

The MP criticised the government for failing to address the problem despite expectations that it would be resolved after Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister. He alleged that there had been no meaningful response for two years and urged the state administration to act without further delay.

Rajender said he had raised the matter in Parliament and met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to seek intervention. He stressed that the state and central governments should work together to resolve issues affecting ordinary citizens.

Emphasising the potential of modern waste-processing systems, Rajender said plastic could be reused in road construction, wet waste converted into organic manure and dry waste used to generate electricity. He urged the Chief Minister to commission a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for an integrated project that would remove accumulated waste and transform the dumping yard into a waste-free zone.

He also expressed concern over the alleged environmental and health consequences for surrounding communities. According to him, pollution had affected fishermen dependent on nearby lakes, while contaminated water was causing illnesses among cattle. Residents were reportedly experiencing skin and respiratory problems, with cancer-related deaths also cited as a concern requiring official investigation.

Rajender said the BJP's four-day foot march was intended to bring local grievances to the government's attention. Announcing a major public meeting at Balajinagar on the concluding day, he assured affected residents that the party would continue supporting their demand for a lasting solution to the dumping yard crisis.
