An alleged act of vandalism at a mosque in Jalalpur village under Bommalaramaram mandal in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district has triggered a police investigation after damage was discovered inside the premises on Monday morning. Worshippers arriving for prayers found parts of the mosque vandalised, prompting concern among residents and heightened security in the area.

According to police and local reports, unidentified persons are believed to have entered the mosque during the night of February 16–17 and caused damage to fans, windows, furniture, and interior fixtures . Religious scriptures were found scattered on the floor, and the premises showed signs of ransacking. Some reports also noted the presence of empty liquor bottles , suggesting the possibility that those involved may have been intoxicated.

Police have registered a criminal case and begun a detailed investigation. Forensic teams collected fingerprints from the site, and special teams are working to identify those responsible. Officials said investigators are examining multiple angles, including whether the incident was an attempt to incite communal disharmony or an act of vandalism carried out by intoxicated individuals.

The mosque is located on the outskirts of the village and lacks CCTV coverage, complicating efforts to trace the culprits. Authorities have increased police presence in the area as a precautionary measure after mild tension was reported following the discovery.

Community leaders condemned the vandalism and demanded swift action against those responsible. Residents urged authorities to conduct a transparent investigation and strengthen security measures at religious sites to prevent similar incidents.

Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, part of the Hyderabad metropolitan region, is socially and linguistically diverse, making incidents involving religious places particularly sensitive. Officials said the situation remains calm and under control, and they appealed to the public not to spread rumours while the investigation continues.

Police have assured that strict action will be taken once those responsible are identified.
