More Than 50 Fall Ill After Suspected Food Poisoning At Baby Shower In Bulandshahr, UP
A suspected case of mass food poisoning has affected around 50–60 people following a baby shower ceremony in Salgawan village of Bulandshahr district, with authorities confirming that all patients are currently stable and under treatment.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when guests attending the celebration reportedly fell ill after consuming food served at the event. Soon after the meal, several attendees, including women and children, began experiencing vomiting and stomach pain , prompting immediate concern among families present at the gathering.
Health authorities and police teams were quickly alerted and reached the village to manage the situation. The affected individuals were first shifted to the Primary Health Centre in Jahangirabad in Jahangirabad and later referred to the Bulandshahr district hospital for further treatment and monitoring.
Officials have confirmed that no serious complications or fatalities have been reported so far, and most patients are recovering under medical supervision.
Meanwhile, food safety teams have collected food samples sent for laboratory testing , including items suspected to have been served during the community feast. Preliminary assessments suggest that the illness may be linked to contaminated or improperly stored food prepared for the large gathering.
The district administration has launched a detailed investigation into food handling lapses to determine the exact cause of the outbreak. Authorities are also reviewing safety standards for mass catering events in the region to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Once laboratory results are available, officials said a comprehensive report will be prepared and appropriate action will be taken if any negligence or violation is confirmed.
