Mohanlal Apologises After Visa Issue Forces Sydney Show Postponement
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal apologised to fans and organisers after an Australian visa delay stopped him from travelling to Sydney for his much-awaited stage show on Saturday.
The show, titled Vaikittu Endha Paripadi (What’s on the agenda this evening?), was organised by Kayal Events and scheduled at the Norwest Convention Centre in Sydney. It featured Mohanlal along with several other artistes, including singer K S Chithra. Reports said the programme was postponed after Mohanlal could not make the trip.
Speaking from Singapore in a video message, Mohanlal said he was deeply hurt by what happened. He said this was the first time in nearly 50 years that he had failed to get a visa for a show.
“I don’t know how it happened,” he said, adding that it could have been a technical or clerical error. He also mentioned the possibility of an AI related issue but said he did not want to go into the details.
Mohanlal refused to blame anyone and instead said, “I am taking all the blame on myself.” He thanked the organisers, especially Vimal from Kayal Events, for trying everything possible to save the event.
The actor also apologised to fans who had travelled long distances to attend the show.
Mohanlal said he had performed in the US, UK, Germany and Ireland this year and had been excited to bring the Sydney audience what he called a special concept.
He promised that he would return to Sydney with the same team and stage the show for fans.
