Mohanlal Announces New Film With 'Thudakkam' Director Jude Anthany Joseph

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has announced his next collaboration with filmmaker Jude Anthany Joseph, with the yet-to-be-titled project scheduled to arrive in 2027. The actor made the announcement on August 16, sharing a photograph with Jude on social media and revealing that more details about the project will be announced soon.

“Delighted to share that I’ll be joining hands with Jude Anthany Joseph for an exciting new film next year! More details coming your way soon!” Mohanlal wrote in his post.

The upcoming project marks the second collaboration between Mohanlal and Jude Anthany Joseph, following the recently released 'Thudakkam'. While details such as the film's title, genre, cast, crew and production schedule remain under wraps, the announcement has generated considerable interest among Malayalam cinema audiences.

'Thudakkam', which opened in theatres on August 7, 2026, marked the acting debut of Vismaya Mohanlal, Mohanlal's daughter. Jude directed the film and co-wrote its screenplay with Akhil Krishna and Linish Nellikkal. Jakes Bejoy composed the music, while Jomon T. John handled cinematography. Mohanlal also made a cameo appearance in the film as Vismaya's mentor. Jude recently revealed that the character was not part of the original script and was added after Mohanlal agreed to make a brief appearance.

The new announcement comes at an interesting point in Jude's career. The filmmaker, known for movies including '2018', has also spoken recently about other projects he had considered, including films involving Ayushmann Khurrana and Sivakarthikeyan.
