Mohammed Siraj Rested For Ireland And England Tours, Prasidh Krishna Named Replacement
Mohammed Siraj has been rested from India’s upcoming assignments as part of workload management , with the BCCI naming Prasidh Krishna as his replacement for the T20I series in Ireland and England.
The decision, announced on Tuesday, was described by the Board of Control for Cricket in India as a precautionary measure taken after discussions between the BCCI Medical Team and team management . The aim is to ensure adequate recovery for the fast bowler ahead of a long international season .
Siraj was originally included in the squad for the Ireland and England tours, which comprise two T20Is in Ireland and five T20Is in England . However, he has now been withdrawn. The pacer was also not selected for the Asian Games in Japan.
Siraj has had a heavy workload in recent months. He played a key role for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2026 , featuring in all 17 matches and taking 19 wickets . He was also part of India’s last T20I assignment at the T20 World Cup , where he featured as a late addition to the squad. Earlier, he played the one-off Test against Afghanistan, which concluded inside three days on Monday.
The selectors have turned to Prasidh Krishna , who now joins the squad as Siraj’s direct replacement for both overseas T20I series.
The updated India squad for the Ireland and England tours is as follows: Shreyas Iyer (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Ishan Kishan (wk), Shivam Dube, Tilak Varma (vice-captain), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, and Prasidh Krishna.
The move reflects India’s ongoing emphasis on fast bowler workload management , particularly with a packed international calendar ahead, ensuring senior pacers remain fit and available for key upcoming tournaments and series.
