Mohammad Azharuddin sworn in as Telangana minister

Mohammad Azharuddin was officially sworn in as a minister in the Telangana state cabinet on Friday. The ceremony took place at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, with Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan administering the oath. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy attended the event and extended his best wishes, expressing hope that Azharuddin would play a key role in the state’s development. Several prominent personalities from Telangana were also present.

Born on February 8, 1963, in Hyderabad, Azharuddin completed his education at Osmania University’s New Science College. From a young age, he showed a keen interest in cricket and quickly rose to prominence for his talent.

Azharuddin made his mark in Indian cricket in the late 1980s, attracting worldwide attention with a hat-trick of centuries in his debut Test match against England. In the 1990s, he captained the Indian cricket team, leading it to several notable victories.

After retiring from cricket, he entered politics and was elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 as a Congress MP. However, he was unsuccessful in the 2014 elections. His induction into the Telangana cabinet marks a new chapter in his multi-faceted career, transitioning from sports to public service.
