A home-based cloud kitchen run by a deaf and mute couple in Mohali has emerged as a quiet success story, earning widespread appreciation both locally and on social media for its home-cooked food and inclusive entrepreneurial spirit.

Vanshpreet Singh and his wife Anmol Kaur, who are deaf and mute since birth, recently launched a vegetarian tiffin service named ‘Quietly Delicious’ after shifting to Mohali from Sitapur in Uttar Pradesh. Operating from their rented residence, the couple prepares and supplies freshly cooked meals to nearby housing societies and individual customers.

The initiative took shape after the family’s transport business faced setbacks, prompting them to explore alternative means of livelihood. Drawing on skills learnt at home, Vanshpreet, who had assisted his mother in the kitchen over the years, joined hands with Anmol to convert their cooking abilities into a sustainable business model focused on quality, simplicity and affordability.

‘Quietly Delicious’ functions as a localised cloud kitchen , accepting orders in advance and preparing food in limited quantities to maintain freshness. The menu consists of pure vegetarian dishes such as dal, chole, seasonal vegetables, poori, rice and sweets, packed in traditional thali-style portions. The emphasis remains on home-style preparation rather than commercial restaurant offerings, a factor that has found favour with customers.

The service caters mainly to nearby residential societies and also handles bulk orders for religious events, community gatherings and charitable food distribution. Deliveries are restricted to surrounding localities to ensure timely service and consistent quality.

Digital outreach has played a significant role in the venture’s visibility. The couple’s school-going son appears in Instagram videos explaining the daily menu, while family members living abroad assist with social media management and technical support. Within a short period, the kitchen’s Instagram page has attracted over 21,600 followers , with users praising both the food and the family’s determination.

The business is entirely family-run, with parents assisting in cooking and packing, and children helping with coordination. Alongside commercial operations, Vanshpreet and Anmol also regularly distribute food to the underprivileged as part of ‘sewa’ , reinforcing the community-oriented values behind the venture.
