MoHA Police rankings 2025: Ghazipur tops India, Chowka, Shamirpet shine in Telangana

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has released the Ranking of Police Stations 2025 , naming Ghazipur Police Station as the best-performing police station in the country after a comprehensive nationwide assessment.

The annual ranking, announced during the recent Directors General of Police and Inspectors General of Police Conference, evaluated the performance of more than 18,000 police stations across India. Police stations were assessed on multiple parameters, including quality of investigation, disposal of cases, efficiency in filing charge sheets, handling of crimes against women and weaker sections, infrastructure, citizen feedback, sanitation, digital record management, use of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), forensic support, police communication, and overall conduct of personnel.

Ghazipur Police Station , despite operating in a challenging urban environment, emerged at the top of the national list for its consistent service delivery, effective law enforcement, and citizen-centric approach.

Among the top performers, Chowka Police Station in Seraikela-Kharswan district of Jharkhand secured the fourth rank nationally and was declared the best police station in the state . Officials said the station met all evaluation benchmarks, particularly in case disposal, investigation standards, infrastructure, and proactive policing. The achievement was described as a reflection of discipline, professionalism, and commitment to the principle of “Seva hi Lakshya” (Service is the goal).

Telangana also made its mark in the national rankings with Shamirpet Police Station of the Cyberabad Commissionerate being recognised as the best-performing police station in the state. The station secured a place in the top ten nationally , earning praise for its effective grievance redressal system, digital policing initiatives, and positive public feedback.

The Ministry of Home Affairs stated that the annual ranking exercise aims to promote healthy competition, encourage best practices in policing, and strengthen public trust in law enforcement agencies. The recognition of high-performing police stations is intended to serve as a benchmark for improving policing standards across the country.
