Modi inaugurates Commanders’ Conference in Kolkata

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the three-day Combined Commanders’ Conference (CCC) at the Eastern Command headquarters of the Indian Army in Vijay Durg, Kolkata, formerly known as Fort William. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was also present at this important gathering, which is being held for the first time since Operation Sindoor.

Operation Sindoor was a precise and carefully planned campaign aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and inside Pakistan. It highlighted the Indian armed forces’ professionalism, precision, and coordinated approach.

The conference brought together top national security and military leaders, including National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, and all three chiefs of the Indian armed forces. It serves as the highest-level forum where India’s civil and military leadership come together to discuss strategic, operational, and institutional priorities. Officers of various ranks also take part in interactive sessions during the event.

This year’s 16th edition of the CCC focuses on reforms, transformation, and operational preparedness under the theme “Year of Reforms - Transforming for the Future.” Officials said the conference aims to strengthen integration across the forces, push technological modernization, and maintain high operational readiness across multiple domains.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Kolkata comes just weeks after his last trip, marking his fourth visit to Bengal in five months. He arrived from Assam on Sunday evening. He reached the Eastern Command headquarters around 9:30 am on Monday after spending the night at the Raj Bhavan.

The last CCC was held in Bhopal in 2023. With this year’s focus on reform and modernization, the conference underlines India’s commitment to a capable, quick, and future-ready armed forces, ready to respond to any challenge while continuing to strengthen national security.
