MLA Warns Against Chinese manja; Leaders Extend Festive Greetings Across India

Congress MLA Daanam Nagender has urged the public not to use dangerous Chinese manja during the Makar Sankranti festival , warning that they pose a serious threat to lives and public safety. Speaking to the media in Hyderabad amid ongoing festival celebrations, he appealed to everyone to stay cautious and celebrate responsibly.

Highlighting Telangana’s rich cultural traditions , Daanam Nagender described Sankranti as a festival symbolizing unity and collective joy . He emphasized that everyone should avoid Chinese manja under all circumstances , calling them extremely hazardous. “The government is also committed to ensuring that kites are flown safely. Sankranti is not just a festival of colors it is a celebration of unity and mutual bonding,” he added.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu extended her greetings to the nation on Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal, and Magh Bihu , highlighting that these festivals represent India’s rich agricultural traditions and national unity . Expressing gratitude to nature and acknowledging the services of farmers, she posted on X (Twitter) that these celebrations should bring joy and prosperity to everyone’s lives . Union Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted the public on Lohri , praying that this festival brings happiness, progress, and prosperity to all.

These harvest festivals including Lohri, Pongal, Sankranti, and Uttarayan reflect the country’s tradition of celebrating agricultural bounty in diverse ways. Lohri in North India , in particular, is marked with bonfires, songs, and traditional foods , adding extra joy and energy to the festive season and highlighting India’s cultural diversity and agricultural heritage.
