The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has received a boost in the Kovur Assembly constituency with around 60 families from Padugupadu village leaving the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and joining the ruling party ahead of the local body elections. The new members were formally welcomed into the TDP at a programme held at the Nellore office of MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, in the presence of Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy.

The two leaders welcomed the newcomers by draping them with yellow party scarves, marking their formal induction into the TDP. The development comes as political parties strengthen their local networks and mobilise support ahead of the upcoming local body polls.

The group joined the party under the leadership of Penchalaiyya, former vice-chairman of the Agricultural Market Committee. Among those who joined the TDP were Vinnakota Vasu, Vinnakota Srinivasulu Naidu, Vinnakota Venkata Ramanaiah, Vinnakota Venkateswarlu, Vinnakota Jagadeesh, Vinnakota Rahul, Vinnakota Bhanu, Bocchu Chandramouli and Dasari Shashikumar, along with several others.

Addressing the gathering, the Vemireddy couple called on party leaders and grassroots workers to work in coordination to secure victory for alliance candidates in the local body elections. They emphasised the importance of taking the government's welfare initiatives and development programmes directly to the people.

The leaders urged party cadres to explain the benefits of welfare schemes being implemented by the government and create greater awareness about development activities undertaken in the Kovur constituency. They stressed that effective communication with voters and coordinated campaigning would be crucial to strengthening public support for alliance candidates.

The newly inducted members said their decision to join the TDP was driven by their confidence in the leadership of Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy. They expressed their willingness to work under the couple's guidance and actively participate in the party's campaign during the local body elections.

The new members also pledged to extend their support to the alliance candidates and contribute to their electoral success. The induction of the 60 families adds to the TDP's organisational efforts in Kovur as the local body elections approach.
