MLA on wheels: Governance on the move in Delhi

In an innovative step to bring government services closer to citizens, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday launched the "MLA on Wheels,Rekha Sarkar Apke Dwar" mobile office in the Janakpuri constituency. Part of the "Sewa Pakhwada" initiatives marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birth anniversary, this initiative aims to make governance more accessible and citizen-friendly.

The mobile office is designed to bridge the gap between residents and administrative authorities. Traditionally, citizens had to visit government offices to register complaints, seek approvals, or follow up on requests,a process often time-consuming and challenging, especially for the elderly, women, and people with disabilities. With this mobile office, the government brings its services directly to neighborhoods, addressing grievances and ensuring quick redressal.

Janakpuri MLA and Delhi cabinet minister Ashish Sood, who conceptualized the project, emphasized that this initiative is unprecedented in India. The mobile office is equipped with modern facilities including a computer operator, Wi-Fi connectivity, microphones, and seating for up to 10 people, allowing it to function as a fully operational mini-office that can travel throughout the constituency.
