A minor boy has been apprehended in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in Hyderabad, police said on Friday. The incident has drawn attention to the risks associated with unsupervised social media interactions among teenagers.

According to officials, the boy had reportedly established contact with the girl through a social media platform and gained her trust before the alleged assault took place. Acting on the victim’s statement, a case was registered at the Kachiguda police station, following which an investigation was launched.

Police said the accused, being a minor, was taken into custody and later produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. He has since been sent to an observation home as per legal procedures under the juvenile justice system.

Authorities have urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant about children’s online activities and interactions, emphasizing the need for awareness regarding digital safety. Meanwhile, officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to gather additional details related to the case.

The incident underscores growing concerns over cyber-enabled crimes involving minors and highlights the importance of early intervention and education to prevent such occurrences.
