Labor and Mining Minister Vivek Venkataswamy participated in a fish release program at the Gollavagu Project in Bheemaram Mandal, organized under the Fisheries Department. The minister released fish fingerlings free of cost as part of efforts to support local fishermen.

Speaking at the event, Minister Vivek highlighted the government’s commitment to the welfare and development of the fishing community. He noted that reservoirs, ponds, canals, and tanks across the state are being stocked with fish at full subsidy. He also emphasized the nutritional value of fish, pointing out that they are rich in protein and beneficial for health.

Referring to the Gollavagu Project, the minister recalled that it was constructed by his father, Kaka Venkataswamy. On a political note, he mentioned that fishermen in Jubilee Hills have traditionally supported the Congress party, yet assured that he is focused on their welfare. He promised to work toward establishing a model fish center in Chennur and revealed that a building for the local fishermen’s society has already been constructed in Bheemaram.

During the program, fishermen raised several issues with the minister, including the need for a fish market, installation of electricity lines, removal of trees from ponds, and desilting work. Minister Vivek responded positively, assuring that all concerns would be addressed soon and reaffirming the government’s continuous support for the community.

The event was attended by local representatives, officials, and a large number of fishermen.
