Minister Sridhar Babu visits Australia to strengthen digital governance ties
Telangana Minister for IT, Industries, and Legislative Affairs, Duddilla Sridhar Babu, visited the Parliament of Victoria during his tour of Australia.
The minister was warmly welcomed by Lee Tarlamis and Sheena Watt (members of the Victorian Legislative Council, representing the Australian Labor Party). During the visit, discussions were held on legislative best practices, citizen participation, and the use of technology in governance.
The focus of the talks was on collaboration in public policy, digital transformation, and innovative approaches to governance. Leaders in Victoria appreciated Telangana’s reform-driven initiatives and showed interest in strengthening cooperation between the two regions.
Sridhar Babu’s visit highlighted Telangana’s commitment to digital innovation and good governance on an international platform.
Minister Sridhar Babu has previously undertaken international visits to countries like the United States, Singapore, and Japan. During these visits, he focused on attracting investments, promoting technology and innovation, and developing skilled talent in Telangana. For example, in Singapore, he announced plans to train 2 lakh AI engineers, and in the U.S., he engaged with global companies like Apple to explore collaboration in technology and manufacturing.
Victoria itself has implemented several successful digital initiatives, such as a centralized digital governance system, a single platform for citizen services, data-driven decision-making using analytics, and investment in digital infrastructure like high-speed internet and smart city technologies.
Telangana can adapt these learnings by strengthening its own digital governance, enhancing citizen service platforms like MeeSeva, using data for better planning and policymaking, expanding internet connectivity, and collaborating with technology companies and universities. These steps can help Telangana provide more efficient services, promote innovation, and make governance more transparent and citizen-friendly.
