Minister Seethakka Unveils Komaram Bheem Statue in Aswaraopeta

World Tribal Day celebrations were held on a grand scale in Aswaraopeta of Bhadradri Kothagudem district, with Telangana Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dhanasari Anasuya (Seethakka) attending as the chief guest. She, along with local MLA Jare Adinarayana, unveiled a statue of tribal warrior Komaram Bheem during the celebrations.

A massive rally organised on the occasion filled the area with “Jai Adivasi” slogans. Addressing a public meeting, Seethakka said the history of tribal communities was marked by their struggles for rights, freedom, equality and self-respect.

She urged tribal communities to draw inspiration from the courage and sacrifices of Sammakka-Sarakka, Birsa Munda, Ramji Gond and Komaram Bheem. The minister said the Constitution had provided special safeguards for protecting tribal rights and stressed that ensuring their effective implementation was the government’s responsibility.

Seethakka also said the demand for tribal rights should not be viewed as opposition to other communities. Instead, she called for pursuing constitutional rights while maintaining brotherhood and harmony with all sections of society.

The minister said the government was giving special attention to the development of tribal areas, housing, employment opportunities and securing rights over forest resources. She said the government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy was committed to the welfare and development of tribal communities.

She stressed that tribal languages, cultures, traditions and traditional attire were important symbols of their identity and urged people to preserve them for future generations.

Calling for development with dignity and self-respect, Seethakka urged the people to move forward inspired by Komaram Bheem’s legacy and remain committed to protecting their rights.

Later, she visited the Mahila Samakhya building and participated in housewarming ceremonies under the Indiramma housing programme.
