Minister Seethakka offers prayers at Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma temple

State Minister Seethakka, along with Bhadrachalam MLA Tellam Venkata Rao, visited Medaram in Mulugu district and offered prayers to the revered tribal deities Sammakka and Saralamma. Special rituals were performed at the temple, with prayers offered for the welfare, happiness and development of the people of the state.

After the darshan, Minister Seethakka reviewed the ongoing development works in and around the Medaram temple complex with officials. She instructed them to ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timelines without any delays. Emphasising the importance of basic facilities for devotees, she called for adequate drinking water, toilets, resting sheds, roads and uninterrupted power supply. With lakhs of devotees expected during the jatara, she also directed officials to give special attention to security arrangements, sanitation and traffic management.

The minister said the state government is making efforts to give international recognition to the Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, which is widely regarded as Asia’s largest tribal festival. Officials informed her that extensive preparations are underway for the world-famous jatara scheduled to begin in January, keeping in mind the preservation of tribal traditions and beliefs while creating facilities that will benefit future generations.

Development works currently in progress include the restoration of the Sammakka and Saralamma shrines, stone construction at the altars of Pagididda Raja and Govinda Raja, flooring and installation of stone pillars in the temple premises, and infrastructure works near the Jampanna Vagu. Minister Seethakka said that, in line with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision, the structures should be built to serve devotees for the next 100 years without inconvenience. She instructed officials to maintain quality standards, speed up the works and ensure that all arrangements are completed before the jatara begins.

Officials also stated that large-scale development works are being carried out within a 50-kilometre radius of Medaram, considering that over one crore devotees are expected to attend the festival. Temple authorities, public representatives and local leaders were present during the visit.
