Minister Ponnam Prabhakar inaugurates Chikkadpally-Domalguda link bridge
Minister in charge of Hyderabad, Ponnam Prabhakar, inaugurated the newly constructed Chikkadpally-Domalguda link bridge on Friday, along with GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi. The bridge, built at a cost of approximately ₹6 crore over the Hussain Sagar surplus channel, is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in central Hyderabad.
Addressing the event, Minister Prabhakar said the government is implementing a comprehensive plan to develop city infrastructure in line with Hyderabad’s rapid expansion. “Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, we are executing coordinated plans to transform Hyderabad into a mega city, addressing present needs while preparing for future growth,” he stated.
The new bridge will improve connectivity between areas such as Chikkadpally, Domalguda, Narayanguda, Himayatnagar, and Vidyanagar. Commuters in and around the Hussain Sagar area are expected to save considerable travel time and avoid traffic jams. Thousands of residents, including students, office-goers, and business professionals, will benefit from the improved accessibility.
Minister Prabhakar highlighted that previous city development initiatives were often implemented in a piecemeal manner. “Now, we are taking a holistic approach, integrating roads, bridges, drainage, drinking water, and sanitation into our development projects,” he said.
Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi added that the GHMC is committed to enhancing the quality of life for Hyderabad residents. She emphasized that smaller link bridges and flyovers play a key role in managing the city’s traffic efficiently. The inauguration ceremony was attended by local representatives, GHMC officials, engineers, and a large number of residents.
