Minister Narayana Assures Justice for Amaravati Farmers, Majority of Plots Already Allocated

Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister P. Narayana has stated that all issues concerning farmers who had contributed their lands for the Greenfield capital, Amaravati, will be resolved within six months.

It was assured by the minister that justice will be ensured for every farmer. The registration process for the returnable plots allocated to the farmers is reported to be progressing rapidly.

“All issues concerning Amaravati farmers will be addressed within six months. Justice will be ensured for all farmers in the capital,” Minister Narayana said in a press release issued after the second meeting of the three-member committee formed to resolve farmers’ concerns. According to him, only 719 farmers are yet to receive their returnable plots. The minister also appealed to farmers not to be influenced by “self-interested individuals.”

So far, a total of 54,000 acres of land have been collected for the Amaravati project. Among this, 34,281 acres were contributed by 29,881 farmers from 29 villages, a majority of whom belong to Dalit communities.

The three-member committee convened for the second time at the Municipal Administration headquarters in Amaravati, with the participation of Rural Development Minister P. Chandra Shekhar, Minister Narayana, Tadikonda MLA Shravan Kumar, CRDA Commissioner K. Kannababu, and other officials. The progress of decisions taken during the first meeting held on November 10 was reviewed, and additional issues were discussed.

Minister Chandra Shekhar stated that the committee will meet every two weeks to ensure resolution of farmers’ concerns. He also noted that certain issues arose due to policies of the previous YSR Congress Party government. “Some issues emerged due to decisions taken by the previous government. These are being resolved individually. Issues with plots covering around 700 acres remain, but 98 percent of plots have already been allocated,” he added.

Final decisions regarding the registration of assigned lands will be taken by a Cabinet sub-committee, and the process is expected to be completed within 90 days. Infrastructure works including roads, drainage systems, and street lighting in 25 villages of the Amaravati region are scheduled to commence by January 2026.
