A Class 10 student from Nellore district, who was forced to discontinue her education following her mother's death and family difficulties, has returned to school after appealing to Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh through social media.

G. Sumanvi, a student of the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Kondapuram, had been unable to continue her studies due to difficult family circumstances. Her mother died about a year ago, following which Sumanvi and her younger brother began living with their grandmother.

After the Dasara holidays, her father took her to Hyderabad. However, he did not send her back to school, bringing her education to a halt. Determined to continue her studies, Sumanvi recorded a video message and shared it on social media, appealing to Minister Nara Lokesh to help her resume her education.

Responding promptly to her request, Lokesh directed Nellore District Collector Himanshu Shukla to take immediate steps to ensure that the girl did not lose her opportunity to study.

Following the minister's instructions, the collector constituted a special team comprising officials from the revenue, police and education departments. The officials initially attempted to contact Sumanvi's father but received no response. They subsequently travelled to Hyderabad, met him and counselled him on the importance of allowing his daughter to continue her education.

After the intervention, the officials brought Sumanvi back to Nellore and readmitted her to the Kondapuram KGBV school, enabling her to resume her Class 10 studies.

Lokesh appreciated Collector Himanshu Shukla, Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla and the district administration for their efforts in ensuring the student's return to school.

The minister emphasised that protecting every child's right to education and securing their future was among the government's priorities. He instructed officials to regularly monitor Sumanvi's educational progress, maintain contact with her family and provide all necessary assistance to ensure that her studies continue without interruption.

The collector and SP assured the minister that the administration would closely monitor her progress and extend the required support to her family.
