State Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has laid special focus on the expansion of national highways and the fast-tracking of new infrastructure projects in the state. On Sunday, the minister held a special meeting in Hyderabad with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav . The two discussed the progress of several key infrastructure projects in Telangana.

The minister reviewed the progress of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) project and the expansion works of the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway (NH-65) . Stating that frequent accidents on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway had led people to describe it as a “ Death Road ”, he urged the NHAI Chairman to expedite the commencement of works to expand the highway into an eight-lane corridor .

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also referred to the state government’s decision to construct a Nagpur-style double-decker elevated corridor from LB Nagar to Hayathnagar over a stretch of 7.1 kilometres on the same highway. He said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , had already submitted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the project to the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

During the meeting, the NHAI Chairman informed the minister that the tender process for both the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway expansion and the Regional Ring Road project had been completed and that steps were being taken to commence the works at the earliest.

The minister also brought to the Chairman’s attention several issues relating to ongoing and upcoming projects being executed under the NHAI in the state. Stressing that the infrastructure sector was crucial for the development of Telangana, he called for special attention to ensure that projects directly benefiting the public are completed within the stipulated timelines.

Roads & Buildings Department Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj , NHAI Regional Officer Shiva Shankar , and other officials were also present at the meeting.
