Minister Gottipati reviews cyclone relief measures in Narsapuram

Several cyclone-affected areas in Narsapuram were visited on Monday by Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister and West Godavari district in-charge, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, to assess the ground situation and review the relief measures being implemented by the district administration in the wake of Cyclone Montha.

The minister was accompanied by Narsapuram MLA Nayakar during the visit. The rehabilitation centres at Nagidipalem, Pathapadu, and Kalipatnam were inspected, where temporary shelter, food, and medical assistance had been arranged for evacuees. The District Collector and Superintendent of Police briefed the minister on the steps that had been taken to ensure the safety of residents in vulnerable coastal villages and on the arrangements made for the supply of essential commodities.

Officials were directed to intensify evacuation efforts in low-lying areas and to ensure that no resident remained in cyclone-risk zones. Instructions were given that all necessary precautions should be taken to prevent loss of life and property, with an emphasis placed on continuous monitoring, as heavy rainfall and strong winds were expected to continue over the next 24 hours.

It was advised by the minister that all departments remain on high alert and coordinate closely to handle any emergency situation. The administration was asked to maintain uninterrupted power and water supply at the relief centres. The availability of emergency services, including power restoration teams and medical response units, was also reviewed.

The efforts of district officials, police personnel, and disaster response teams were appreciated for their timely action in shifting people to safety and providing essential amenities. Interactions were held with affected families at the rehabilitation camps, and they were assured of the government’s full support until normalcy is restored.

Meanwhile, warnings regarding heavy rainfall and gusty winds were issued by the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) and the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for coastal regions affected by Cyclone Montha. Fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea until weather conditions improve.

It was stated by authorities that control rooms had been activated and rescue teams were placed on standby to respond to any emergency situation in the cyclone-affected mandals of West Godavari district.
