Minister Azharuddin confident of Congress win in Jubilee Hills

Telangana Minister and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin expressed strong confidence that the Congress will win the upcoming Jubilee Hills by-election. He said voters would not repeat the mistake they made in the previous election and predicted a decisive victory for Congress candidate Naveen Yadav.

Speaking about the campaign, Azharuddin said that there is a lot of enthusiasm among the people. He said those who had joined the previous padayatra (foot march) are now promising to vote for Congress and are making it clear that they will not repeat the mistakes of the past election.

Recently appointed as a minister in the Telangana cabinet, former Indian cricket captain Azharuddin has been actively campaigning for Naveen Yadav in Jubilee Hills. Meanwhile, Telangana BJP president Ramachandra Rao criticized Congress for indulging in minority appeasement politics. He said the BRS is trying to attract voters with promises, while BJP is focusing on development issues in the election.

“The BJP has started its campaign for the Jubilee Hills by-election and is receiving a positive response from people in Rahmatnagar and surrounding areas. Congress is relying on minority appeasement politics, BRS is wooing voters with promises, but BJP is contesting on the basis of development,” Ramachandra Rao said.

At the same time, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao conducted a roadshow in the Rahmatnagar area, strongly criticizing the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government. He asserted that Telangana people are not intimidated and will not succumb to threats. “This is not a Telangana that gives in to intimidation,” KTR declared.

The Jubilee Hills by-election is scheduled for November 11, with counting on November 14. The seat fell vacant following the death of the sitting BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath. Congress has fielded BC leader Naveen Yadav, BRS nominated Gopinath’s wife Sunita, and BJP has put forward Lankala Deepak Reddy.

Impact on state politics

Though the by-election involves only one constituency, the outcome could significantly influence the political atmosphere in Telangana and impact the credibility of the state Congress government. This is the first major electoral test for the Revanth Reddy-led government. A Congress victory would signal public approval of the government’s performance, while a loss could suggest voter dissatisfaction within just one year.

Implications for BRS and BJP

For BRS, this by-election is a test of political resurgence. A win would indicate that the party still enjoys strong voter support, while a loss could signal continued challenges in Hyderabad.
