MIM leader urges people not to feed birds on streets in Karwan

MIM Legislative Assembly Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has raised concerns in the Telangana Assembly about the health risks posed by feeding birds in public areas. He highlighted that uncontrolled feeding leads to an increase in bird droppings and feather dust, which can cause respiratory problems, allergies, and other health issues - particularly affecting children, the elderly, and those with weaker immune systems.

Owaisi advised residents who wish to feed birds to do so in their own yards rather than on public roads, where it creates hygiene issues for the entire community.

Following this, under the guidance of MIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, Akbaruddin Owaisi will lead an anti-bird-feeding awareness drive in the Karwan constituency. The campaign is scheduled to begin in the last week of January.

The initiative aims to educate people about the health risks associated with feeding birds indiscriminately. Officials emphasized that uncontrolled bird populations can compromise environmental cleanliness and increase the likelihood of long-term respiratory problems. The campaign will involve community outreach, home visits, and direct interactions with residents, as well as distribution of informational leaflets in Urdu, Telugu, and English to ensure the message reaches all sections of society.

Health experts have repeatedly warned that the growing bird population in the city is contributing to respiratory issues. The MIM’s initiative has been widely praised as a proactive step toward protecting public health.
