MIM Expels MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig, Orders Him to Resign from Telangana Council
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has expelled its MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig from the party and directed him to immediately resign from the Telangana Legislative Council.
The party announced the decision in a statement issued late on Friday night by MIM Joint Secretary S.A. Hussain Anwar. However, the leadership did not disclose the reasons behind the disciplinary action, leaving the circumstances surrounding Beg’s expulsion unclear.
The development comes amid reports that Baig had recently approached the Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police, alleging that unidentified individuals had demanded money from him and threatened to tarnish his reputation by circulating alleged deepfake videos on social media if he failed to comply. The timing of the party’s action has since become a subject of discussion in political circles.
Meanwhile, Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh reacted to Baig’s suspension, demanding that AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi publicly explain why the action was taken.
Raja Singh alleged that MIM leaders had raised serious accusations against Beg, including claims related to land encroachment and an allegation involving a minor. He further claimed that the party acted overnight over concerns that the emergence of alleged private videos could harm its public image.
However, these allegations remain unverified, and AIMIM has not issued any official clarification in response to Raja Singh’s claims.
The sudden expulsion of Mirza Rahmat Baig, coupled with the party’s silence on the reasons behind its decision, has added a new layer of political intrigue to the unfolding developments in Hyderabad.
