Mika Singh Pledges Support to Punjab’s War on Drugs, Announces Free Concert Initiative

Punjabi singer Mika Singh on Saturday met Gulab Chand Kataria and pledged his support for the state’s anti-drug campaign , reinforcing efforts to tackle substance abuse through public awareness.

According to an official release, the Governor urged the singer to engage with youth and spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. Responding positively, Singh assured full cooperation and announced plans to collaborate with the Chandigarh administration to organise a mega public show in the city.

The event, he said, will be held without any ticket fee , with all support generated dedicated to strengthening the anti-drug campaign. Officials believe such initiatives can mobilise community participation and amplify the campaign’s message across wider audiences.

While no specific start date or measurable target for the campaign was disclosed, it forms part of the Punjab government’s ongoing efforts to curb drug abuse and promote a healthier society. The administration is encouraging involvement from public figures and institutions to expand the campaign’s reach.

The meeting also focused on promoting Punjabi language, culture, and heritage globally . Both sides highlighted the need to showcase Punjab’s rich traditions on the international stage while exploring avenues to boost tourism and film production .

Singh further proposed the development of a world-class film city in Punjab , noting it could attract filmmakers, enhance cultural visibility, and generate significant revenue.

Officials added that more collaborations with prominent personalities are expected, though no additional names were mentioned.
