In a dramatic aftermath to Mumbai Indians’ nail biting victory over Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, Mumbai Indians batting coach Kieron Pollard found himself facing disciplinary action from the IPL governing body for breaching the tournament’s Code of Conduct .

The former West Indies all rounder was fined 15 percent of his applicable match fee and handed one demerit point after an incident involving the fourth umpire during Thursday night’s contest. The IPL confirmed that Pollard violated Article 2.3 of the Code of Conduct, which deals with the “use of an audible obscenity during a match.”

According to the official statement, the incident occurred in the 19th over of the second innings during an intense closing phase of the match. Emotions were running high as Mumbai Indians pushed hard for victory in what eventually turned into a thrilling last ball finish . It was during this tense moment that Pollard reportedly used abusive language directed at the fourth umpire.

Pollard later admitted to the offence and accepted the punishment imposed by match referee Pankaj Dharmani, bringing a quick closure to the matter without further disciplinary proceedings.

While the controversy briefly overshadowed Mumbai Indians’ six wicket win , it also highlighted the IPL’s continued emphasis on maintaining discipline and professionalism, even in high pressure situations. Pollard, one of the most recognisable figures associated with Mumbai Indians over the years, has previously faced penalties for similar breaches during his long IPL career.

Despite the incident, Mumbai Indians walked away with a crucial victory in a contest packed with tension, momentum swings, and late drama in the picturesque hill town of Dharamsala .
