The Pradhan Mantri Sansad Khel Mahotsav , organised across the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad over the past month, will conclude today with a grand closing ceremony in Secunderabad. The mega grassroots sports festival witnessed enthusiastic participation from across the region, with competitions conducted at 39 venues and nearly 33,378 athletes showcasing their talent in multiple sporting disciplines.

Union Minister and Secunderabad Member of Parliament G. Kishan Reddy said the event was organised to nurture sportsmanship among youth and promote a healthy and active lifestyle . Sharing details on social media, he noted that the festival aimed to encourage physical fitness, discipline, and community engagement while providing young players an opportunity to display their abilities on a competitive platform.

The closing ceremony and prize distribution function will be held today (February 21) at the historic Gymkhana Grounds in Secunderabad. Final matches are scheduled to begin at 8:00 AM , followed by the awards ceremony at 3:00 PM . Sports lovers and residents have been invited to attend the celebrations and cheer for the winners.

The Sansad Khel Mahotsav is part of a broader national effort aligned with the vision of building a Fit India , promoting grassroots sports participation, and identifying emerging talent at the constituency level. Similar festivals are conducted across the country to strengthen sporting culture, encourage youth engagement, and provide structured opportunities for aspiring athletes.

In the Hyderabad–Secunderabad region, the festival featured both team and individual events, offering a platform to participants from diverse backgrounds. By taking competitions to local grounds and community spaces, organisers aimed to make sports more accessible while strengthening neighbourhood engagement and unity.

Beyond competition, the month-long sporting celebration reinforced values such as teamwork, resilience, and leadership. Officials expressed hope that the enthusiasm generated during the Mahotsav will inspire sustained participation in sports and contribute to healthier lifestyles and a stronger sporting culture in the region.
