Mega DSC Row: YSRCP Announces Statewide Protests on July 28

Escalating its campaign against the Andhra Pradesh government over issues affecting students and unemployed youth, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has announced statewide protest rallies on July 28 across all district headquarters. Organized jointly by the party's Youth Wing and Student Wing, the demonstrations will focus on alleged irregularities in the Mega DSC teacher recruitment, delays in fee reimbursement, and the government's employment-related commitments.

The opposition accused the government of failing to honour key election promises, particularly its assurance of providing unemployment allowance until eligible youth secured jobs. According to the party, the delay has left thousands of job seekers without financial support while several welfare commitments remain unfulfilled.

A major demand of the protests is a CBI investigation into the Mega DSC recruitment process. The YSRCP alleged that the recruitment lacked transparency and that several deserving candidates were denied appointments despite securing high merit rankings. It also claimed that irregularities occurred in the merit, reservation and sports quota categories, and sought an explanation over the reported exclusion of gold medal-winning athlete Durgayya from the final selections.

The party further alleged that the government's failure to release pending fee reimbursement dues has pushed thousands of students from economically weaker families into financial distress, forcing some to discontinue their education. It urged the government to clear all pending reimbursements immediately to prevent further disruption to students' academic careers.

The NEET paper leak controversy also figures prominently in the protest agenda, with the opposition demanding strict action against those responsible and justice for affected students.

Calling for widespread public participation, the YSRCP said the July 28 rallies would press for a CBI probe into Mega DSC, immediate clearance of fee reimbursement arrears, implementation of employment promises, and swift resolution of issues affecting students and unemployed youth. The party warned that it would intensify its agitation if the government failed to address these demands.
