Meditation as a path to inner peace and emotional stability: Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan
Meditation transcends cultural, geographic, and religious boundaries, offering a universal practice that promotes inner peace, mental clarity, and emotional stability, said Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan. He delivered this message as the chief guest at the World Meditation Day celebrations held on Sunday at Kanha Shanti Van in Telangana.
Highlighting India’s ancient spiritual heritage, the Vice President emphasized that meditation is not merely a ritual but a scientifically grounded practice that cultivates the mind and soul. Over generations, gurus and sages have passed down this practice, which has become a symbol of India’s spiritual legacy. He noted that sages meditating in forests and mountains recognized that the true source of peace and wisdom lies within each individual.
Radhakrishnan also connected meditation to India’s vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, explaining that the goal goes beyond economic development. Emotional well-being and spiritual growth are equally important components of a thriving nation. Meditation, he said, is a powerful tool not only for individual welfare but also for the welfare of society.
Recalling the United Nations’ declaration of December 21 as World Meditation Day last year, Radhakrishnan noted India’s pivotal role in promoting global recognition of meditation’s significance for mental health, emotional balance, and spiritual growth. He praised India’s centuries-old meditation traditions for leading this worldwide movement.
Speaking about the “Mission Life” initiative, the Vice President emphasized that meditation fosters values like mindfulness, responsibility, and harmony with nature - qualities essential for a sustainable lifestyle. He urged every citizen to make meditation a daily practice and encouraged individuals, families, and communities to set examples that nurture mental peace, balance, and harmony for future generations.
Radhakrishnan also commended the organizers of Kanha Shanti Van for promoting complete health while following environmentally friendly practices. Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma , State Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and Heartfulness spiritual guide Daji Kamlesh D. Patel were among the dignitaries who participated in the meditation sessions.
