Taiwan’s MediaTek Inc. has unveiled its Filogic 8000 family Wi‑Fi 8 chipset at CES 2026, signaling a bold push into next-generation wireless technology and directly challenging competitors like Qualcomm in the high-performance Wi-Fi space.

The Filogic 8000 platform is designed for a wide spectrum of devices, from broadband gateways and enterprise access points to smartphones, laptops, tablets, smart TVs, streaming devices, and IoT gadgets. MediaTek claims the chipset will deliver higher speeds, lower latency, and more stable connections , even in dense wireless environments crowded with multiple devices. The company highlights its AI-ready architecture, enabling seamless operation of AI-driven applications such as smart home systems, augmented reality, and cloud gaming.

“Through our demonstrations at CES, we are showcasing our commitment to advancing next-generation wireless technologies and reinforcing our leadership in the Wi-Fi sector,” said Alan Hsu (Xu Hao Jun), Corporate Vice President and General Manager of MediaTek’s Intelligent Connectivity Business Unit.

The new chipset is expected to reach flagship and high-end devices later this year. Key partners include Asustek, Acer, HP, Buffalo, Arcadyan Technology, and Hon Hai Precision Industry.

Qualcomm currently dominates the premium Wi-Fi segment with its FastConnect 9000 series , which powers many flagship smartphones and high-performance computing devices. Intel has also positioned itself with Wi-Fi 7 solutions and is preparing for Wi-Fi 8 launches. Analysts say MediaTek’s Filogic 8000 stands out for its enterprise and AI-focused capabilities, potentially giving it an edge in smart homes, IoT-heavy environments, and AI-driven devices, while Qualcomm continues to excel in smartphones and gaming-heavy platforms.

Industry observers note that MediaTek’s strategy emphasizes broad device compatibility and high-density network performance, offering a more versatile alternative to Qualcomm for enterprises and service providers. If successful, this could reshape the competitive dynamics in the Wi-Fi chipset market, where speed, reliability, and AI integration are becoming decisive factors.

With Filogic 8000, MediaTek is not just entering a technology upgrade cycle, it is staking a claim in the next frontier of connected devices, aiming to redefine how consumers and enterprises experience wireless connectivity.
