Hyderabad has added another feather to its global reputation. The world-renowned food chain McDonald’s has inaugurated its largest Global Capability Center (GCC) outside the United States in the city’s Hitec City area. Spread across 156,000 square feet, the new facility is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and modern amenities.

The center was formally inaugurated by Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, in the presence of senior McDonald’s executives.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka said, “McDonald’s choosing Hyderabad as a key hub for its global operations is a testament to Telangana’s progressive governance and investor-friendly policies.”

The new Global Center will serve as a strategic hub for technology, digital solutions, data analytics, and operational support for McDonald’s businesses across the world. Officials expect the initiative to further strengthen Hyderabad’s growing ecosystem in IT, food tech, and business services.

Minister Sridhar Babu noted that Hyderabad has already earned recognition as India’s capital for Global Capability Centers, hosting giants such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Meta. He said McDonald’s addition further reinforces Hyderabad’s leadership in the global tech landscape.

He also attributed the city’s success in attracting international investments to Telangana’s forward-thinking governance, strong infrastructure, and transparent policies. Over the past two decades, he said, consistent investment in public infrastructure, urban innovation, and digital connectivity has transformed Hyderabad into a preferred global business destination.

Creating over 2,000 jobs in five years

According to McDonald’s representatives, the center currently employs around 400-500 professionals across technology, data analytics, finance, human resources, and supply chain management. The company plans to expand its workforce to more than 2,000 employees within the next five years.

McDonald’s will also launch special training programs to equip local talent for global roles, particularly targeting graduates from engineering, management, data science, and food technology backgrounds. “Hyderabad’s talent base, culture of innovation, and strong government support give us great confidence,” said a McDonald’s spokesperson. “This center will accelerate our global innovation and operational excellence.”

Why global companies choose Hyderabad

Investor-friendly governance: Telangana’s single-window clearance system allows new industries to obtain all necessary approvals within 15 days, making it one of the fastest approval systems in the country. The model ensures transparency, efficiency, and investor confidence by streamlining permissions from multiple departments into one platform.

IT policy 2021-26: The state’s IT Policy (2021-26) provides dedicated incentives for Global Capability Centers. The government has invested heavily in innovation, skill development, and digital infrastructure, aiming to position Hyderabad as the “GCC Capital of India.” Benefits include tax exemptions, rental subsidies, and technical support for global firms.

World-class infrastructure: Hyderabad’s infrastructure - from IT parks in Hitec City, Gachibowli, and Kokapet to metro connectivity, 24x7 power, reliable water supply, and robust digital networks - continues to attract multinational companies. The government is also expanding IT growth to Warangal, Khammam, Nizamabad, and Mahbubnagar, reducing the urban-rural development gap and building investor confidence across the state.

A global milestone for Hyderabad

With McDonald’s joining the list of top global corporations investing in Hyderabad, the city further cements its position as a hub for global innovation, technology, and enterprise excellence. The new Global Capability Center not only reflects McDonald’s commitment to digital transformation but also marks another major step in Hyderabad’s journey toward becoming a truly global business destination.
